Maya Abdominal Massage

Seeking our sovereignty

The History & Lineage:

Maya Abdominal Therapy originates from traditional Mayan massage practices. Don Elijio Panti is believed to have been the last of the great “h’men” trained in this ancient knowledge. He became a student in the oral tradition that had been passed directly from h’men to h’men for more than five thousand years. Don Elijio spent most of the next six decades sharing this healing wisdom out of his small clinic in the foothills of Belize. His practice focused on medicinal plants, bodywork, and physical and spiritual healing. Although his clinic wasn’t easy to reach, many would travel from far to see him. When Don Elijio met Rosita Arvigo, he agreed to take her on as an apprentice and pass along this great wealth of knowledge, which otherwise would have been taken to his grave. His dying wish was to ‘Take the children as though they were your own. Train them and teach them to help each other.’ Rosita has kept this promise and continues to share and teach the lineage of these traditional practices in his honor.

What Can Maya Abdominal Help With?

From digestive troubles, painful periods, fertility support, pelvic and prostate problems, to relief from chronic back and sacral issues, these gentle abdominal massage techniques are quite effective and powerful bringing back balance to the body at a physical, emotional and spiritual level.

What To Expect from a Maya Abdominal Session

An initial session begins with a comprehensive exploration of your personal health story. The full in-person Abdominal Therapy treatment involves an external massage of your entire abdomen, back, hips, and sacrum. Massaging these areas systematically and thoroughly optimizes the circulation of all the systems in your body and helps guide organs back into proper position. We call this NAVEL: Nerve, Arterial and Venous blood, Energy, and Lymph. We also address tension and restriction in the low back and sacrum. This helps to remove congestion in the pelvic bowl and belly. Restoring this balance allows the body to heal.

As my gift to you, I will teach you how to perform Your Abdominal Massage (YAM) at home to support your health goals and to incorporate daily between our sessions.
